This Mexican 75 is a tequila and champagne cocktail that is a twist on the classic French 75. It makes an epic cocktail for times of celebration!
Christmas and New Year’s are right around the corner. With the end of the year also comes many reasons to celebrate. It is a time to celebrate being surrounded by the ones you love. It is a time to celebrate how fortunate we all are. It is a time to celebrate the good things to come and the good things that have happened.
No matter how tough, easy or mundane the past year may have been, all of us seem to look forward to the upcoming year with a sense of curiosity and hope. We are curious to know what lies around the corner, and hopeful that it will be a year full of health, wellness, fortune, and love. I hope your 2017 is full of all of the above, and so much more!!
If you have ever been to one of the Brazil get-togethers you know there will be two things at our party… tequila and champagne. What better to do than to make a tequila and champagne cocktail?!
What is a Mexican 75?
A “Mexican 75” is a tequila twist on the classic French 75. Instead of lemon juice and gin, you use lime juice and tequila. It is then finished off with a bit of bubbly to give you a light and refreshing cocktail with a bit of a kick.
Whether you like your cocktails sweet or a bit salty, feel free to line the rim of your drink with either sugar or salt. I like my Mexican 75s like I like my margaritas — with a bit of salt. It is really easy to coat the rim of your champagne flute. Simply take a quarter of a lime, cut a slit in it, and run it around the rim of your flute. Then you can dip your flute in either salt or sugar and it will stick!
What kind of glasses should you serve your champagne and tequila cocktail in?
This recipe is made to be served in an 8 oz. champagne flute. These are some of my favorite stemless champagne flutes. The fact that they don’t have a stem means they are less likely to be knocked over by my not-so-coordinated self 🙂
What are you most looking forward to in the year 2017?
